TUSAL and ORTs

What do you do with your TUSAL pot and ORTs at the end of the year?  That was the discussion in our house this afternoon.  Colin first of all said use it to stuff something with.  Rachael then said why not make something with them.

So that's what I did.  I found a funky alphabet and a scrap of aida.  Then stitched up this...

...then I took my ORTs and stuffed them in the ornie.  Which was then sewn up and frayed round the edge to produce...

...this!

On the back is a small backstitched 2013.  The whole thing probably took me an hour and a half to make. So what did you do with your ORT's at the end of the year?

What a great idea! I must admit I throw mine away as I go along.

Oh I love it Sharon. I found some clear plastic ornaments at Walmart and fill them up.

very cute idea! I used to just throw them out. Last year I put into a clear glass ornament and I LOVE IT. I'm going to be doing the same with 2013's.

Cute idea! I've kept mine in a specimen jar and labeled it 2013 to go in my curiosity cabinet (when I get one) :)

Great idea, and it looks perfect. Last year I got a clear Christmas Tree bauble and stuffed mine in there, I love to see it on my tree.

Very clever Sharon! My orts always go into the trash basket but I do like the idea of spreading them outside to help the birds make nests : )

Great idea!

I will stuff my glass during the year like I did in 2013.

What a clever idea! I love it!!!

I have just been keeping my orts in the same jar year after year and pushing them down periodically to make room the new additions!

Happy New Year!

I love what you did with your orts! How clever to make a wee pillow.
The only things I've done with mine are to put some in a plastic bauble for the Christmas tree & then, I've saved the rest in a really large jar.

Such a sweet pillow! I can just imagine the Antiques Road Show in 100 years time examing Great Granny Sharon's workbasket and wondering about the mysterious ORTS!

I use mine to stuff an ornie, it will be my December Alphabet Cat this year.

What a great idea! It looks adorable. I stuffed my ORTs into a glass ornament and saved the rest that wouldn't fit to put out for the birds so they'll have colorful nests!
