Weightloss

As any of you who have ever seen me in a photo know, I am overweight.  Probably the medical profession prefer morbidly obese or some such phrase but I don't particularly like it.  I am not living in denial that I am thinner than I really am or anything like that but I just really dislike the phrase.  I think possibly the start of my problem with the phrase was when I moved to Manchester.  I went to register with my new doctor and was told that at 11lb over my 'ideal' weight that I was obese.  That really irritated me and so I hate the word obese.  Anyway, since last June, I have been going to Weightwatchers to do something about it (and believe me it is a lot more than 11lbs these days.  Just after Christmas, I had lost 4 stones in total - well 56.5lb's to be exact.  Sadly since then I have lost my way, motivation and been eating too much of the wrong stuff.  Last week I had a shock on my scales and decided there was no way I was piling it all back on and got myself back to WW.  I have started a new blog that will chart my journey and hopefully find me some supportive weightloss buddies/followers so we can support each other, share tips and our trials and tribulations.  Colin is really supportive of my lifestyle change and bought me a few of the silks for Gardens of London for Easter rather than chocolate and will happily? weigh out my food for me and usually makes good food choices for our meals.

So anyway, if you would like to support me and anyone else I meet on my weightloss journey, feel free to visit it.  If not, stay here and enjoy my stitching instead :)

My 'other' blog is Shebafudge - The Lighter Side.  It has already been renamed at the suggestion of Colin!

Oh sweetheart...good for you. I wasn't 'obese' but apparently was borderline (11 stone and five foot six). I was made to feel guilty for my own cancer even though I wasnt even overweight! I lost weight..if you are determined it will happen. If you are set in your mind, then you will do it. I couldnt afford a diet club so made a few lifestyle changes, feel free to email me if you want to know what I did. But you know what, if your ready to kick ass then it will drop off. Good luck xxxx

I think that is a great idea, starting a blog to track your weight loss journey, and I have heard really good things about Weight Watchers. Good wishes for your journey, and know you are not alone in this struggle!

Hello,

Good luck on your new healthy lifestyle. I found the trick is to think in your mind that sugar is no good for your body, which of course it isn't. Small steps even like parking further away from the shops or leaving your remote control on your tv not next to you all makes you walk that bit further. You will get there. I lost 17 kilos a few years back and have managed to maintain that weight. I no longer eat junk food, not one chocolate eaten over Easter. Have lots of vegies and fruit in your fridge so you have something to snack on that is healthy.

Most importantly you have taken the decision to get back into a healthy weight range, half the problem we have as humans is acknowledging we have a problem so congrats on that part.

Good luck.

Happy days.
Bev.

Good luck with the weight loss. I think a new blog will be great motivation for you. Colin was so sweet to buy you the silks instead of chocolates, so sweet of him!

Congrats on your weight loss and good luck on your future loss too. I need to join in but just don't have the will power to do anything about it.

Good luck with the weight loss.

I subscribe to the "Small Boy who eats all my snacks" diet. Very effective. You can borrow him if you like.

Good for you for being determined and starting a special blog just for this! I'm sure I should lose plenty of 'stones' even though I don't know how many pounds that is. I'm with Katie, no willpower and no motivation. Maybe later....

I can relate (as I'm sure many other women can) to your struggle with weightloss - been there, done that!

I still struggle with my own weight to this day. A few years back I lost nearly 50 lbs and have since put every ounce of that back on plus a little extra. I'm getting married in just over a year from now and feel the pressure to get some of this weight off in time to look and more importantly FEEL my best before then. I really just want to loose weight just to be healthy again, as I'm dealing with some health problems that I'm sure would go away if I'd just find the motivation in me somewhere to get my ass in gear.

This is why I find your post so inspirational. You've taken it upon yourself to create that motivation, despite going through a momentary lapse in willpower - which is what I struggle with most.

I am inspired by you!

Thank you so much for sharing, and I'll be sure to keep tabs on your new blog :)

I hate that word, too!! When I was in college and weighed a wee 120 pounds, I was told I was obese because of my fat to lean muscle ratio!!! Come on!! Good luck to you on your journey...so wonderful that Colin is supportive...tell him the blog said, "Atta boy!!!" =)
